The Cooperation agreement signing took place between FSI “State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices” and Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices of Montenegro

On April 23rd, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices and the Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices of Montenegro. Let us remind that this is the third agreement signed in the online format. Previously, agreements with Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina were signed remotely as well.

The pandemic caused by Covid-19 has brought for countries a new format of relations with each other. In addition to the fact that the number of webinars, seminars, and sessions in the online format has increased, the formalization of interstate relations has moved to a new level. The conclusion of memorandums takes place in a virtual format, using technical means. The Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices of Montenegro is the third country that has signed a memorandum of cooperation in this mode with the State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices.

Vladislav Shestakov, Deputy Head of the Russian State GMP Inspectorate, Director of SID&GP, and Dr. Milorad Drljević, Director of the Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices of Montenegro, took part in the signing of the Agreement.

The agreement states the intent of countries to establish a framework for long-term cooperation in the field of GMP inspections, as well as other GxP inspections, conduct of joint information, training and advisory activities within their scope and to share information to ensure the quality of medicines.

“Today the priority task of Russia and Montenegro is the protection of citizens’ life and health. The signing of the Cooperation Agreement will strengthen our countries’ already existing business and partnership ties with colleagues from the pharmaceutical industry and improve the quality of GxP inspections conducted,” explained Vladislav Shestakov, Director of SID&GP. – “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to cooperate with Montenegro in this area, as the two countries share a vision of joint implementation of projects to improve inspectors’ skills and exchange of experience.”

We shall note that on February 11, 2021, the Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices of Montenegro approved the purchase of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V”. The authorization was granted by an expedited procedure, without conducting additional clinical trials. Montenegro became the 25th country that approved “Sputnik V” vaccine. In addition to that, since April 2021 the borders of the country will be open for tourists from Russia.
