Russian delegation went to Uzbekistan with a business visit

Russian delegation went to Uzbekistan with a business visit this week. The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices and Russian pharmaceutical companies. The purpose of the visit was to visit pharmaceutical companies in Uzbekistan, as well as negotiations on cooperation between the two countries in the pharmaceutical industry.

The Russian delegation included Elena Denisova, Deputy Director of the Department for the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry Development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Natalia Chadova, Head of Pharmaceutical Production Inspection and Expertise Department of SID&GP, Vyacheslav Goryachkin, Head of Good Practice Division of SID&GP, and representatives of pharmaceutical companies. During a three-day visit to Uzbekistan, representatives of the Russian side visited the research and manufacturing pharmaceutical cluster Tashkent Pharma Park, held several meetings with managers of distribution companies in Uzbekistan, visited the manufacturing sites of pharmaceutical companies in the country.

Representatives of the Russian GMP Inspectorate held a series of meetings and negotiations on mutual cooperation with the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency of Uzbekistan and the State Center of Expertise and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Devices and Medical Equipment of Uzbekistan.

“We are glad that we have the opportunity to resume our business trips and face-to-face meetings with the Heads of foreign pharmaceutical companies and representatives of foreign regulators,” said Elena Denisova, Deputy Director of the Department for the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry Development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, during the visit. – Nothing can replace the face-to-face communication and the opportunity to visit manufacturing sites in person rather than using technical means of communication, even the most modern and high-tech ones”.

In 2020, the volume of medicines export to Uzbekistan significantly increased compare to 2019 year. For the first 3 quarters of 2020, the volume of medicines export to Uzbekistan was 58.6 million packages, an increase of 6.3% compared to the same period in 2019; in monetary terms, the export volume increased by 60.8% compared to the same period in 2019 and amounted to 3.44 billion rubles. In comparison, 2019 export volume

was 78.9 million packages, which is down by 17.2% from 2018 volume (95.3 million packages). In value terms, the volume of exports in 2019 increased by 14.8% compared to 2018 and amounted to 3.4 billion rubles (in 2018 – 2.9 billion rubles). Over the past three years, 255 INNs were exported to Uzbekistan, which corresponds to about 346 trade names.

“For us, as a Russian GMP Inspectorate that inspects foreign manufacturing pharm-companies, the reference visit to a foreign manufacturing site and communication with foreign GMP inspectors is a particularly valuable experience,” said Natalia Chadova, Head of Pharmaceutical Production Inspection and Expertise Department of SID&GP. – We already know our colleagues from Uzbekistan – they took part in the IV All-Russian GMP conference in Svetlogorsk in 2019. I am sure that we will continue the implementation of joint projects both in education and experience exchange fields, as well as in the field of inspections”.
