GMP News: New NAO Severnaya Zvezda manufacturing facility
St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast are traditionally among Russia’s leaders in pharmaceutical production in terms of production output, quality and the construction of new sites. The Chairman of the Management Board of the Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of the Eurasian Economic Union Dmitry Chagin holds that this is only natural, because 20% of all national pharmaceutical science is concentrated in the Northern capital. ”In this regard, another figure is logical as well,” says Sergey Tsyb, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. “While in 2014, the production volume of pharmaceuticals was just over RUB 180 billion, by the end of 2017 it was close to RUB 300 billion. And St. Petersburg accounts for more than 20%1 of this volume.”
