The Opening of the GxP Academy unites regulators from the EAEU countries.
On 22 April 2021 in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, a Grand opening ceremony of the Eurasian Academy of Good Practices took place, where training will be provided for different countries’ pharmaceutical inspectors and industry representatives. Prominent officials of the relevant ministries and agencies of the EAEU member-states, Eurasian Economic Commission, representatives of regulatory authorities of the Union states, industry associations, and heads of the pharmaceutical companies took part in the Opening ceremony.
Prior to the Ceremonial part there was a 10th Working group meeting – in a closed session format – on conducting pharmaceutical inspections for compliance with the rules of Good Manufacturing Practice in the field of drug circulation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. In the meeting the participants discussed the current situation on formation of the EAEU common drug circulation market, issues of harmonization of national legislations of the EAEU member-states with the Union’s supranational legislation and ways towards the further integration and development of the common drug market.
“We are very happy that our meeting was held amidst the opening of the Eurasian Academy of Good Practices. Firstly, this event was able to unite the regulators of the EAEU countries and gather them on one platform, which is conducive to a more productive generation of needed and important solutions for the entire market. Secondly, the Academy’s activities on transferring knowledge, enhancing qualification and developing new competencies of pharmaceutical inspectors from different countries will act as a significant catalyst for the formation of a single”, – noted Dzhanyl Dzhusupova, Deputy Director of the Technical Regulation and Accreditation Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The Opening ceremony’s participants in their congratulatory speeches, and also during the ceremony of passing the Academy’s key, particularly underscored the high significance of the project not only for the local market, but for the entire Eurasian Economic Union. Indeed, to this day, there is a high demand in enhancing qualifications of all the market’s participants.
“Establishing the GxP Academy is, on the one hand, an important step of progressive development of our competencies, and, on the other hand, is a solid foundation for instituting continuity in transferring our knowledge and skills. It is crucial practical experience: it is an important social commitments and societal obligation, and vital mission of contemporary history”, – remarked Deputy head of the Russian GMP-inspectorate, Director of FSI «SID & GP» Vladislav Shestakov.
The signing of a cooperation program between the Eurasian Academy of Good Practices and the Eurasian Economic Commission was an important step in the partnership to unite and transfer the accumulated experience and knowledge.
Also during the event, the composition of the management team and the board of trustees of the Eurasian Academy of Good Practices became known. Thus, the Academy’s Board of Trustees, chaired by Ramil Khabriev, Scientific Director of the Federal Scientific State Budgetary Institution «N.A. Semashko National Research Institute of Public Health» included: Nadezhda Daragan, Executive director, Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the National association of pharmaceutical products and medical devices manufacturers “APF”; Vladimir Shipkov, Executive director of the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers; Stanislav Naumov, Chairman of the Association Board of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of Russia and other EAEU countries; Liliya Titova, Executive Director of the Union of Professional Pharmaceutical Organizations.
Andrey Egorov, Deputy Director of FSI “SID&GP”, was introduced as Executive Director of the Eurasian Academy of Good Practices. In addition, the decision of the meeting held the day before announced that Vladislav Shestakov was appointed as a President of the Eurasian Academy of Good Practices Board.

Background. The Federal State Institution «State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices» (also known as FSI «SID&GP») is a subordinate agency of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, authorized since 2015 to conduct GMP inspections of pharmaceutical products for human use produced outside of the Russian Federation, to issue compliance verifications of pharmaceutical manufacturers with the GMP requirements.
